You can either:
a) switch to individual clones of bitbake, openembedded-core, meta-yocto and yocto-docs
b) use the new bitbake-setup
You can find information about either approach in our documentation:
https://docs.yoctoproject.org/
Note that "poky" the distro setting is still available in meta-yocto as
before and we continue to use and maintain that.
Long live Poky!
Some further information on the background of this change can be found
in: https://lists.openembedded.org/g/openembedded-architecture/message/2179

We require at least gcc 8.0 in sanity.bbclass so drop the 4.8/4.9
special case handling in uninative.

We call the installer script but if it fails the user doesn't see the
reason, which makes resolving the problem hard. Capture both stdout and
stderr as text, and display it to the user when it fails.

With newer glibc versions, pthread was merged into the main library so there is
no longer any need to link with -lpthread. On newer systems this means that linker
flag is dropped from places like pkgconfig .pc files. If uninative then uses this
newer library on an older system, the flag is missing and linker errors about missing
symbols occur.
Adding the linkage unconditionally to our uninative linking flags avoids that problem
at a potential cost of slight over linking.

All other places in this bbclass are using ${UNINATIVE_STAGING_DIR}-uninative,
we should sync to use that too, although UNINATIVE_STAGING_DIR's default
value is STAGING_DIR.

Recent changes in bitbake mean the datastore is not always reset between
ConfigParsed and BuildStarted. This means in a fresh buiild, with memory
resident bitbake active, uninative may end up disabled.
Update the code so the enable code is always run at BuildStarted if
needed.

This was the original reason to add the patch:
https://git.openembedded.org/openembedded-core/commit/?id=18efcbcb896239c64fedd009ce57f3f0c668cbc0
and this is the upstream discussion which suggests handling
read-only files explicitly outside of patchelf:

advantage of new bitbake functionality to check class scope/usage.
