You can either:

a) switch to individual clones of bitbake, openembedded-core, meta-yocto and yocto-docs

b) use the new bitbake-setup

You can find information about either approach in our documentation:
https://docs.yoctoproject.org/

Note that "poky" the distro setting is still available in meta-yocto as
before and we continue to use and maintain that.

Long live Poky!

Some further information on the background of this change can be found

<title>toaster.bbclass: fix toaster error caused by tabs in BBLAYERS</title>

<id>urn:sha1:6ed03701e37b460810a3702cd5b5798c104abcc0</id>
<content type='text'>
Users may unknowingly put tabs in BBLAYERS instead of spaces, and this is
interpreted as a literal "\t" at the start of the filepath which causes
_get_layer_dict() function to fail at finding the filepath.

Instead of using split(" "), which restricts it to split on just spaces
replace with split() as this handles spaces, tabs and newlines.

Min steps to reproduce:
- Clone the poky repo:
    git clone git://git.yoctoproject.org/poky
    cd poky
    source oe-init-build-env
- Insert tabs in the BBLAYERS variable in bblayers.conf
  - Note: tab needs to be in the recipe that is being built for the error to be observed
  - Ex: `	/home/&lt;user&gt;/src/poky/meta-skeleton \`
- Start toaster
  source toaster start
  bitbake hello

Error message:
FileNotFoundError: [Errno 2] No such file or directory: '\t/home/&lt;user&gt;/src/poky/meta-skeleton’

Fix by using split() instead of split(" ").

As stated in our top level license files, the license is MIT unless
otherwise stated. Add SPDX identifers accordingly. Replace older
license statementa with the standardised syntax. Also drop "All
Rights Reserved" expression as it isn't used now, doesn't mean anything
and is confusing.

There is a long standing bug where FILES_INFO isn't written into pkgdata
with a package suffix. This means if the files are read into the datastore
as intended, the last one "wins".

Fix this to work as intended. Most of the call sites using the data need
to be updated to handle this and the overrides change correctly.

Also fix some other problematic references noticed along the way.

In commit 692b2046 (package: Fix race between do_package and
do_packagedata), the path used for do_packagedata[sstate-inputdirs]
was changed from "${PKGDESTWORK}" to "${WORKDIR}/pkgdata-pdata-input".
This commit adapts the path used for pkgdatadir in
toaster_package_dumpdata() accordingly to avoid setscene errors like:

When using RPM, depends.dot may contain dependencies such as
"/bin/sh", which will confuse _toaster_load_pkgdatafile(). Ignore
them. While at it, also ignore dependencies that contain parentheses,
e.g., "libc.so.6(GLIBC_2.7)".

By using a single regular expression, the parsing of the depends.dot
file can be simplified a lot. This should also make it less
susceptible to formatting changes in that file.

Use the TaskArtifacts event to scan the SDK and ESDK manifests
to cleanly collect the respective artifact files.

The previous method was broken when the SDK file deployment moved
from the do_populate_sdk[_ext] tasks to their sstate tasks. That
method is disabled (but not yet removed) in preparation for the
rest of refactor work for the parent #10283 work.
