Following up on commit 139102a73d41 ("recipes: Default to https git protocol where possible"), > The recommendation from server maintainers is that the https protocol > is both faster and more reliable than the dedicated git protocol at this point. > Switch to it where possible. Use ";protocol=https" for the parent git submodule and, also, update the SRCREV to point to a commit where submodules are reference through a https:// URL instead of a git:// one. oeqa/selftest: add test for git working correctly inside pseudo

The fix for CVE-2022-24765 in git[1] breaks any use of git inside pseudo. Add a simple test case to oe-selftest to verify that at least basic uses of git work fine under pseudo. meta: Add explict branch to git SRC_URIs

There is uncertainty about the default branch name in git going forward. To try and cover the different possible outcomes, add branch names to all git:// and gitsm:// SRC_URI entries. This update was made with the script added to contrib in this patch which aims to help others convert other layers.
