If virt-unique-hostname is added to IMAGE_FEATURES, like the following: IMAGE_FEATURES += "virt-unique-hostname" IMAGE_FEATURES[validitems] += "virt-unique-hostname" Then a rootfs postprocessing hook will override hostnae to something unique.
