libsdl2 was using foo.o in Makefile dependencies but if libtool is
being used then those are the statically linked intermediate files.
When static libraries are globally disabled they won't be generated by
libtool so the build fails.
Instead, use the libtool intermediate wrapper .lo files so the build
succeeds.

libsdl2 depends on libxkbcommon when enable wayland support.
Can verify it with the following steps:
bitbake libxkbcommon -c clean
bitbake libsdl2 -c cleansstate && bitbake libsdl2

The Wayland support requires GLES2 to be enabled as otherwise the EGL support
code in SDL2 isn't enabled.

The base_contains is kept as a compatibility method and we ought to
not use it in OE-Core so we can remove it from base metadata in
future.
