* Convert to new override syntaxRichard Purdie2021-08-021-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | This is the result of automated script conversion: scripts/contrib/convert-overrides.py <oe-core directory> converting the metadata to use ":" as the override character instead of "_". (From OE-Core rev: 42344347be29f0997cc2f7636d9603b1fe1875ae) Signed-off-by: Richard Purdie <richard.purdie@linuxfoundation.org>
* dosfstools: Build --without-iconvColin Finck2021-03-021-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | The new version has an internal CP850 conversion table, hence it doesn't need iconv anymore (and currently errors when trying). (From OE-Core rev: 647cd1134a543406f0f741d3f83d5f5ce78bcd0f) Signed-off-by: Richard Purdie <richard.purdie@linuxfoundation.org>
* dosfstools: update 4.1 -> 4.2Alexander Kanavin2021-03-021-8/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | | udev support had been dropped upstream. The tools now have internal locale support so the glibc locale dependencies can be dropped. * dosfstools: add mkfs.vfat to ALTERNATIVERicardo Salveti2020-11-081-1/+5
| | | | | | | | | | | The mkfs.vfat tool can also be provided by busybox via the CONFIG_MKFS_VFAT configuration (not enabled by default in OE but can be enabled on systems avoiding components based on GPLv3). * meta: start to ignore the largefile distro featureAndre McCurdy2017-03-081-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The largefile distro feature has been enabled by default in oe-core for a long time and, more recently, also in poky-tiny. Building without the largefile distro feature receives little or no testing. Many packages now enable LFS without exposing a configure option, so there should be very little expectation that disabling the distro feature will result in a distro which globally disables LFS. Respecting the distro feature adds a maintenance over-head and may be the source of configurations oddities (e.g. dbus-native currently builds with LFS disabled for no clear reason - fixed by this commit). Ignore the largefile distro feature more widely, as a first step towards deprecating and eventually removing it. * recipes: Move out stale GPLv2 versions to a seperate layeruninative-1.5Richard Purdie2017-03-0710-1587/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | These are recipes where the upstream has moved to GPLv3 and these old versions are the last ones under the GPLv2 license. There are several reasons for making this move. There is a different quality of service with these recipes in that they don't get security fixes and upstream no longer care about them, in fact they're actively hostile against people using old versions. The recipes tend to need a different kind of maintenance to work with changes in the wider ecosystem and there needs to be isolation between changes made in the v3 versions and those in the v2 versions. There are probably better ways to handle a "non-GPLv3" system but right now having these in OE-Core makes them look like a first class citizen when I believe they have potential for a variety of undesireable issues. Moving them into a separate layer makes their different needs clearer, it also makes it clear how many of these there are. Some are probably not needed (e.g. mc), I also wonder whether some are useful (e.g. gmp) since most things that use them are GPLv3 only already. Someone could now more clearly see how to streamline the list of recipes here. I'm proposing we mmove to this separate layer for 2.3 with its future maintinership and testing to be determined in 2.4 and beyond. * dosfstools: fix populated image creation with dirsNitin A Kamble2011-12-152-2/+492
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This fixes bug: [YOCTO #1783] Fix populated image creation. Earlier subdirectories support was broken, and files can only be placed in the root directory. Now directory hirarchy is supported in the image. Also support for long names is extended to directory names. There are some outstanding issues as documented in the patch header, these issues can be worked around by running dosfsck tool after populated image creation. The dosfsck tool is also part of this package. | | | | | | | | | | | It appears msdos image population and fat32 images are incompatible. This reverts to the 2.10 behaviour of defaulting to fat16 instead of using fat32 for large images, allowing image generation to work correctly. This is a workaround and a proper fix is really needed. * Major layout change to the packages directoryRichard Purdie2010-08-2711-0/+1168
Having one monolithic packages directory makes it hard to find things and is generally overwhelming. This commit splits it into several logical sections roughly based on function, recipes.txt gives more information about the classifications used. The opportunity is also used to switch from "packages" to "recipes" as used in OpenEmbedded as the term "packages" can be confusing to people and has many different meanings. Not all recipes have been classified yet, this is just a first pass at separating things out. Some packages are moved to meta-extras as they're no longer actively used or maintained.
