* sysvinit-inittab: support non-busybox-getty on serial consolesAndré Draszik2019-02-122-1/+14
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Busybox' getty has code to try to make itself a session leader, whereas util-linux' agetty doesn't. It expects this to happen from outside. When getty is not a session leader, many things don't work on the serial console, e.g. setting the terminal process group, job control doesn't work, etc. Executing image tests also fails with AssertionErrors, because Feb 5 16:12:55 qemuarm getty[590]: /dev/ttyAMA1: cannot get controlling tty: Operation not permitted Feb 5 16:12:55 qemuarm getty[590]: /dev/ttyAMA1: cannot set process group: Inappropriate ioctl for device Update the start_getty script to invoke getty via the setsid utility if needed, i.e. if /sbin/getty is not busybox getty. * meta: Use double colon for chown OWNER:GROUPKosta Zertsekel2018-11-071-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Rationale - excerp from `info chown` ==================================== OWNER‘:’GROUP If the OWNER is followed by a colon and a GROUP (a group name or numeric group ID), with no spaces between them, the group ownership of the files is changed as well (to GROUP). Some older scripts may still use ‘.’ in place of the ‘:’ separator. POSIX 1003.1-2001 (*note Standards conformance::) does not require support for that, but for backward compatibility GNU ‘chown’ supports ‘.’ so long as no ambiguity results. New scripts should avoid the use of ‘.’ because it is not portable, and because it has undesirable results if the entire OWNER‘.’GROUP happens to identify a user whose name contains ‘.’. * sysvinit-inittab: fix getty device removalLeonardo Sandoval2016-12-161-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | getty devices were not being removed in some cases because device name was not at the end of the line, for example a ttyS1 device: S1:12345:respawn:/bin/start_getty 115200 ttyS1 vt102 Removing this limitation allows sed to remove any line containing the device. * sysvinit-inittab: make TERM=vt102 on serial consolesAndré Draszik2016-11-232-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | This makes more sense than the default TERM=linux (as set by the linux kernel). In addition, when using busybox init, it tries to achieve the same (in a different way). Both agetty, and busybox getty support the terminal type as the last argument. * sysvinit-inittab_2.88dsf.bb: Allow aliasing with SERIAL_CONSOLES_CHECKCalifornia Sullivan2016-08-101-2/+5
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | With some hardware the name of the device node and the name in /proc/console differ. This causes SERIAL_CONSOLES_CHECK to not enable working consoles in these cases. This patch changes SERIAL_CONSOLES_CHECK to have an optional alias for the checked consoles. The new format is: <device>:<alias to check(optional)> Fixes [YOCTO #9440]. * sysvinit-inittab: restrict labels to 4 charsStephano Cetola2016-05-061-1/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | The current recipe creates inittab labels based off the device node name of TTYs used as consoles. If those names exceed the 4 character label limit of inittab, it will break. This change takes the last 4 chars of the device names in order to avoid any errors. * sysvinit-inittab: Move start_getty scrip to base_bindir.Philip Tricca2016-02-281-4/+4
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | When this file is in ${sysconfdir}/init.d, SELinux labels it as a generic init script (initrc_t). This causes problms at runtime because SELinux doesn't let the login process execute generic init script. Moving this helper script to base_bindir results in it being labeled as a generic binary (bin_t). Nearly every SELinux domain is allowed to execute generic binaries and the login process is one of them. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | For certain swap/overcommit settings (e.g. when overcommit is disabled on a real-time system), we need to limit the stack size used by initscripts. | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | bootlogd's default log rotation code on stop requires `savelog`, which is in debianutils, which may not be installed. * sysvinit: add initscripts-functions to RDEPENDSChen Qi2014-02-021-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | As sysvinit doesn't inherit update-rc.d, we need to add this dependency manually. * Revert "Add missing RDEPENDS of initscripts-functions"Chen Qi2014-02-021-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Instead of manually adding initscripts to RDEPENDS of each package, we should make it automatically handled by the update-rc.d.bbclass. This solution would have the benefit of backward compatibility. In other words, users need not modify their recipes. This reverts commit 16080a3485bd793edd66ed8361f1e8b86a9e19ea. * Add missing RDEPENDS of initscripts-functionsChen Qi2014-01-061-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | Now that the initscripts-functions has been packaged separately, packages which may use the functions script should have a runtime dependency on it. * Replace one-line DESCRIPTION with SUMMARYPaul Eggleton2014-01-022-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | A lot of our recipes had short one-line DESCRIPTION values and no SUMMARY value set. In this case it's much better to just set SUMMARY since DESCRIPTION is defaulted from SUMMARY anyway and then the SUMMARY is at least useful. I also took the opportunity to fix up a lot of the new SUMMARY values, making them concisely explain the function of the recipe / package where possible. * bootlogd: create log file if not presentChen Qi2013-11-081-2/+2
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | Previously, our system had no boot log even if the bootlogd daemon was started correctly. The root cause is that the log file doesn't exist when starting the bootlogd. Add '-c' option to bootlogd so that it will create the boot log if it doesn't exist. * sysvinit-inittab: Fix getting tty device name from SERIAL_CONSOLES entriesMuhammad Shakeel2013-10-141-1/+1
| | | | | | | | | | | | | Currently the part after "tty" in the device name go into label along with everything after that part. For example if SERIAL_CONSOLES="115200;vt100;ttyS0" than label=S0 but if SERIAL_CONSOLES="115200;ttyS0;vt100" than label=S0;vt100. If SERIAL_CONSOLES="..;ttyX;..", part after 'X' should also be trimmed. * sysvinit: remove unused filesChen Qi2013-09-143-14/+0
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | The 'need' and 'provide' files are there for simpleinit compatability, according to the comments in these two files. * sysvinit: allow users in shutdown group to perform halt/rebootLaurentiu Palcu2013-07-101-3/+9
| | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | | For this to happen: * 'shutdown' group has been created; * changed ownership group for /sbin/halt and /sbin/shutdown to 'shutdown'; * deny execution rights to other users except 'root' and those belonging to 'shutdown' group; * set setuid bit to both apps; So, basically, in order for a normal user to be able to shutdown/reboot the machine, it must be a member of 'shutdown' group.
