This patch was originally added but in fact had no real runtime effect except messing up some hardcoded assumptions, and it was accidently manipulated during systemd upgrade. We have in fact not used the orignal patch for more than two releases and things were working out well. 0006-remove-nobody-user-group-checking.patch The issue has been fixed upstream by the following commit. 4Subject: [PATCH 5/5] rules: watch metadata changes in ide devices

Formatting IDE storage does not trigger "change" uevents. As a result
clients using udev API don't get any updates afterwards and get outdated
information about the device.

qemu by default emulates IDE and the linux-yocto kernel(s) use
CONFIG_IDE instead of the more modern libsata, so disks appear as
/dev/hd*. A similar patch rejected by upstream because CONFIG_IDE
is deprecated.
